:hover Pseudoclass

If this message is top of the stack, you're probably using some version of Internet Explorer to view this page. Sorry, but the effect here simply doesn't work in IE. You could, of course, upgrade...There is a Javascript solution, however, as described at HTMLDog.

'Goddamn, have you ever had your head pound like there was a retarded midget inside, amped up on crystal meth and Travellers Club vodka driving a fucking nuclear powered bumper car down 23 flights of thinly pressed aluminium stairs, and then crashing into a china shop full of crystal bells and Chinese gongs?'

OK, this one is a very specific application of a couple of effects, that may well have limited practical use... The various divs here have a set of :hover properties applied, including a higher z-index (stacking order) and the dropshadow effect from here. The result is hopefully pleasing, and requires exactly no Javascript. Don't expect it to work at all in IE, though.
